I make no excuses,
no false pretense
I am just a sinner
I have no defense.
Born of rebellion,
conceived in sin
envy and spite
were my closest kin.
Dead in trespasses,
deceitful to the core
greed and pride oozed
out of every pore.
Disobedient to God,
just like in Eve’s story
wickedness and evil
stole all of His glory.
I make no excuse,

but, I’ve been saved
by the blood of the Lamb!
